What Is Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI assistant built into Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. It can help you draft documents, summarize email threads, generate meeting notes, and analyze spreadsheet data using natural language prompts.
Rollout Schedule
- Week of March 17: Senior staff and team leads
- Week of March 24: All remaining licensed users
You'll receive an email from Microsoft when Copilot is enabled on your account.
What You'll Get
- Outlook: Summarize email threads, draft replies, and coach your writing style.
- Teams: Recap missed meetings, generate action items, and search conversation history.
- Word: Draft, rewrite, and summarize documents from a prompt.
- Excel: Analyse data, generate formulas, and create charts from plain-English questions.
- PowerPoint: Generate slide decks from a Word document or a written brief.
Training Resources
The IT team has scheduled optional lunch-and-learn sessions every Tuesday in March. Sign-up links will be sent via Teams. Recorded sessions will be available in the IT knowledge base after each session.
Data & Privacy
Copilot operates within your existing Microsoft 365 permissions. It cannot access data you don't already have permission to view. Responses are not used to train the underlying AI models.
